Customs Officials Seizes ‘Donkey Penises’ To Be Smuggled To Hong Kong
Thousands of male donkey genitals about to be exported to Hong Kong were seized by Nigerian Customs officials.
Sambo Dangaladima, the Nigeria Customs Service area commander confirmed this to reporters yesterday, saying the sacks of the genitals were seized at the international airport in Lagos.
According to him, the consignment was earlier “falsely declared as cow male genitals. However, after due examination, my export officers discovered they were donkey male genitals”
Nexus News learnt that a total of 16 sacks of the genitals were seized.
Nigeria is investing efforts into thwarting the export of donkey skins which has drastically reduced the country’s population of work animals, especially the northern part of the country.
In 2021, the house of senate proposed a ban on killing of donkeys and export of their skins.
The seizure of donkey penises at export stations in Nigeria is unusual, however, donkey skins are known to be often exported or smuggled out of the country.
Nigerian customs service in July, seized $116,000 ($189,000) worth of donkey skins being smuggled into the country from neighbouring Niger.
