IPOB refutes use of name, insignia to assault Labour Party

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alerted that agents of the state and those working for politicians are impersonating them in order to raid rally grounds of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State.

IPOB refuted the acts in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, saying it did not authorize anybody to intimidate or assault election rally grounds.

According to the separatist group, if it wanted to commit in any political activity, it will make it known and the Nigerian government and its security agencies will be aware.

The statement read: “We, members of IPOB, under the command and leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, condemn those who used the group’s name and Biafra insignia in what we know as state sponsored attack on the Labour Party rally ground in Enugu to blackmail IPOB.

“IPOB never instructed anyone to threaten or attack election campaign grounds. If IPOB wishes to do so, we will make it open and the Nigerian government and its security agencies will hear the sounds.

“Anybody or criminal group, hired for such impersonation and demonisation, will soon incur the wrath of IPOB volunteers and Eastern Security Network (ESN) operatives.

“Our intelligence unit, the M.Branch, intercepted the secret arrangements where some Fulani soldiers and terrorists in Nigerian security agencies, especially the Department of State Services (DSS) and the military, planned to hire criminals to attack rally grounds to incriminate IPOB and ESN with Biafran flags and insignia and tag it on ESN members when we did not attack campaign grounds.

“In doing so, they forgot that IPOB and ESN would not, in any way, desecrate the hallowed Biafran flag in the name of political attacks.” he said.
