Low Covid19 Vaccination In Gombe, As State Targets 1.9m Residents By March

The Gombe State Government has announced that 1.9million eligible residents of the state are being targeted with the COVID-19 vaccines before the end of March.

This was stated by the project manager of the State Emergency Routine Immunisation Coordination Centre (SERICC), Musa Ibrahim Kuna, in a stakeholders’ meeting held to upgrade COVID-19 vaccination in the state.

According to Kuna, only 15, 945 had so far been vaccinated with the booster dose.

He clarified that the number of persons vaccinated in the state represented 12 per cent for the first dose and six per cent for the second dose.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau on his part, said the meeting was summoned to gather inputs from participants on how to improve the rate of the vaccination.

Furthermore, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Julius Ishaya Lepes, endorsed massive sensitisation to enable change the narrative by educating the people on the significance of vaccination while convincing citizens that the vaccines were safe.
