Two Years After Dethronement, Former Kano Emir Sanusi Meets Ouster, Governor Ganduje

Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and the former Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, reunited on Monday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Daily Trust reports that both men are seen together for the first time since Ganduje dethroned Sanusi in 2020.

Sanusi and Ganduje could be seen shaking hands at a lounge in the airport as the latter beamed in a short video taping their reunion.

The governor had ousted the monarch on March 9, 2020, over what he narrated as “total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the governor.

The former emir was further ousted from Kano and sent to Loko, a remote town in Nasarawa State, while the expenses of the emirate under him were investigated.
