Why We Can’t Resume Abuja-Kaduna Train Services Now – Minister

The Federal Government has announced it cannot resume train service of the Abuja-Kaduna train due to the plight of families whose loved ones are still in captivity.
The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, told State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house.
Nexus News gathered that the Council had on Wednesday, approved N1.49 billion for the rehabilitation of the ra to be carried out at the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
Recall that the train services was suspended after an attack was launched on passengers on the March 28, 2022, leading to deaths of passengers and many abducted.
According to the Minister, the government is still deciding on the suitable type of surveillance equipment to obtain, so as to effectively watch the tracks along the Abuja Kaduna way, as well as compromise it in a Public Private Partnership arrangement.
Speaking on the huge expenses involved, the Minister speculated that it will take a month during which it will record progress made in this respect.
