Yahaya Bello authorizes immediate suspension of traditional ruler, queries LG Chairman

Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello has on Sunday authorized the immediate suspension of the Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman, Ajaokuta Traditional Area Council, Alhaji Musa Achuja.
This directive was contained in a statement signed by Bello’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Onogwu Mohammed and addressed to the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The order comes after an investigation that led to the traditional ruler’s arrest and detention by security agencies.
Nexus News gathered that this is in connection with the recent security violation in the area, which led to the untimely deaths of some security personnel on their legitimate engagements of maintaining law and orders.
The letter further directed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state, Mr Mustapha Aka’aba be queried over the breach and should respond within 24 hours.
Bello strongly cautioned other traditional rulers across the state who might have connection in one way or the other with criminal elements in their domains to desist forthwith.
He emphasized that his government would not take it lightly with anybody who found guilty of associating with criminal elements regardless of their rank and position.
Bello restated his fundamental responsibility of protecting lives and property of residents of the state, adding that no criminal threat would impede his effort.
Furthermore, the governor directed that all unofficial movements of the local government council chairmen out of their territory and other journeys without due process are hereby restricted.
