FACT-CHECK: Ministry Of Finance Headquarters On Fire?

Several media outlets had on Wednesday, reported that the federal ministry of finance headquarters in abuja was on fire.
The Cable reports that black smoke was seen oozing from a part of the building at the Central Business District of Abuja on Wednesday.
Similarly, Vanguard reports that eye witnesses said that fire was caused by an explosion of expired inverter batteries at the basement of the Minister’s building.
In the same vein, according to Premium Times, no life was lost and no major injuries were sustained. However, not less than 20 high voltage batteries were destroyed.
But, a fact-check by Nexus News proved the fire incident to be false.
The Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters was not ablaze as reported on social media.
As contained in a statement released by the special adviser, media & communications
to the Hon Minister, finance, budget and national planning, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the ministry was not on fire.
According to the statement, there was an occurrence on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery Pack and it was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty.
