NDLEA To Detain Abba Kyari For 14 More Days

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) request to detain Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari for 14 more days has been approved by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Nexus News recalls that Kyari has been in detention over alleged drug trafficking since February 14, 2022.

The enforcement agency through its counsel Mike Kassa, at the court on Tuesday, pleaded for more time to surmise the investigation because the hard drugs case was complex and may mandate the agency to travel abroad in the course of its investigation.

While granting the application, the judge ruled that the 14-day period would count from February 22.

According to Justice Zainab Abubakar, the period was to allow the agency to finalize its investigation into the case.

Furthermore, Kyari, on Monday, had filed a suit, seeking the enforcement of his fundamental human rights.

He had pleaded with the court to discharge him on health grounds, because he was diabetic and hypertensive.

However, the judge adjourned the bail hearing till Thursday.
