Putin accusation against Washington
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Washington of seeking to prolong the war in Ukraine and fuel conflicts in other regions around the world, including through a visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
“The situation in Ukraine shows that the United States is trying to prolong this conflict. They act in the same way, raising the possibility of conflicts in Asia, Africa and Latin America,” Putin said in a television statement.
He added, “The American adventure linked to Taiwan is not just a single irresponsible political journey, but is part of a strategy that has goals that the United States consciously pursues to destabilize and create chaos in the region and the world.”
Relations between Moscow and Washington have deteriorated to very low levels since Russia launched a military intervention in pro-Western Ukraine in late February.
